Other Things to Do While You're Here

Go to Taste of the Valley

What better way to get a taste of the Chippewa Valley than at Taste of the Valley? This special event will take place Saturday, June 5 from 11 am-5 pm in Phoenix Park. Taste of the Valley is a small festival that celebrates the culinary arts and showcases the fine dining options available in our area. Food, live music, scenic sites and a designated kids zone - can it get any better than that?! Admission is free and it is $1 per food or drink ticket. Learn more here!

Discover Eau Claire's Impressive Public Arts Scene

In Eau Claire, we take the arts seriously. You can find some form of it almost anywhere you look. One of the best and easiest ways to appreciate Eau Claire's public art is by embarking on the Eau Claire Sculpture Tour. You can find sculptures made by local and international artists lining the streets of downtown Eau Claire and in other places scattered throughout the city. It's a pretty big deal because Eau Claire is home to one of the largest sculpture tours in the nation! While you're out hunting down sculptures, you'll probably run into a few murals too! One piece of advice: they are the perfect selfie backdrop!

Spend Some Time at River Prairie

Your question probably is, "what are some of the things to do in River Prairie?" A better question is, "what is there NOT to do in River Prairie?!" Spend some time exploring the Veterans Tribute Trail, looking for bald eagles as you walk the recreational trail along the Eau Claire River, and grab a bite to eat at any of the River Prairie restaurants. All of the River Prairie restaurants have outdoor patios, so if the weather is nice, you can make sure to spend every daylight moment soaking in the sun!

Shop in Downtown Eau Claire

The heart of Eau Claire is the local businesses and people who make up our community. The best way to experience it is by taking a stroll through downtown Eau Claire and exploring the variety of different shops that line the streets. Check out places like Revival Records, Tangled Up In Hue, the Local Store and many others to get a true taste of Eau Claire's tight-knit and unique local economy.

Get a Sweet Treat

Summer in Eau Claire is EAU so sweet. Might as well get a little treat that pairs well with warm summer days! Check out Olson's Ice Cream or Ramone's Ice Cream Parlor. Both are located in downtown Eau Claire and BOTH scoop up some serious creamy deliciousness. Olson's has handmade their ice cream in the Chippewa Valley since 1944 and Ramone's reminds you of vintage ice cream shops from the past from the moment you step through their door. Looks like you'll have a big decision to make.

Sip on Eau Claire Craft Brews

If you're from Wisconsin, you know how much we love our beer. If you're not from Wisconsin, you also know how much we love our beer! Lucky for you, Eau Claire has lots of it! Check out some of the local breweries in town for a glass or flight of something cold, crisp and tasty. If you have a chunk of time on your hands, plan a trip over to Chippewa Falls to tour the infamous Leinenkugel's brewery too!

Experience Chippewa Valley's Wineries

We get it - beer isn't for everyone. If wine is more your speed, there are a handful of beautiful wineries in the Chippewa Valley for you to visit. Pay a visit to Dixon's Autumn Harvest or River Bend Winery & Distillery in Chippewa Falls for scenic winery views or grab a drink with friends and family at Infinity Beverages Winery & Distillery in Eau Claire.

Eat a Hearty Breakfast

One could argue that picking a place to eat in a destination that's new to you is one of the hardest parts of planning a getaway. While it's completely your call, can we offer up some suggestions for where to get a good breakfast in Eau Claire? Just a fair warning, lines can get long! Try calling ahead or if you're really ambitious, roll out of bed early! Try out places like The French Press, the Nucleus, Chick-a-Dee's, Galloway Grille or Altoona Family Restaurant for a hearty breakfast that will keep you fueled and energized for the whole day. For the "I just want a good cup of coffee" people, every recommendation you need is right here.
